Guitar #1 for our #Music4Maryland Art Guitar shows this fall. This guitar is designed by Donna Lobos from Crofton, MD.
Music education is important and valuable…
…but music programs grow smaller every day.
With your help, we can help sustain and foster under-funded music programs in our community.
Presenting the second Music 4 Maryland Art Guitars Project - a project created by Music 4 More
to help make a difference for music programs in Maryland schools and create music therapy opportunities for our Country’s veterans.
Beginning in July of 2013 exciting new works of art will be proudly unveiled at events throughout the state of Maryland: Each guitar will be individually decorated by noted local artists and musicians then placed on display at high-visibility events throughout the Free State, and all are available for corporate and individual sponsorship.
At the end of the showing, each guitar will be sold, with proceeds from the auction and program sponsorships to be used to purchase instruments and supplies for music programs in our schools and VA Hospitals throughout the state of Maryland.
Your sponsorship helps to underwrite the cost of creation and display of the guitars. This assists Music 4 More in paying for any clear-coating, wrapping, event fees, transportation and shipping of the guitars while being created by artists and celebrities. This allows 80% of the proceeds of the sale of the guitar to be donated to Music 4 More with a 20% commission issued to the creating artist.

Baltimore, MD (February 15, 2013) – Music 4 More recently announced a call for artist applications for its Art Guitars project. The Music 4 Maryland, a signature campaign of Music 4 More will feature 20 guitars, each individually decorated by recognized local artists and musicians. Artist applications can be submitted at: ARTIST APPLICATION
The custom electric and acoustic guitars, which are available for individual and corporate sponsors, will tour the Free State during fall 2013, to promote awareness and support for music education in Maryland. At the end of the showing, the guitars will be sold at auction. Proceeds from the auction and program sponsorships will be used to purchase instruments and supplies for music programs in schools and community organizations throughout the state of Maryland.
“We are excited about the opportunity to create 20 beautiful and creative pieces of art which will be used to help make music education available to more people in Maryland,” states Deidre Stevens, the project’s creator.
Artists will submit their design to Music 4 Maryland for consideration by a panel of judges. Selected artist designs will be partnered up with sponsors of the guitars for the displays. Artists whose designs are chosen for a sponsored guitar will receive a photograph of the finished guitar, tickets to the art show events and a 20% commission on the sold piece of art.
Collaborations of more than one artist are permitted, and designs must contain no advertising and be appropriate for public display to a broad audience. Artists who are willing to share their creative process may be featured in media interviews, studio tours or school visits.

It was a beautiful day for Hot August Blues; in fact, one patron called it “Warm” August Blues due to the surprisingly comfortable temperature.
Our wonderful interns Dan and Annie joined me for the day, helping to sell raffle tickets (who doesn’t want to win a beautiful PRS guitar?!), t-shirts and even a pink flamingo guitar to raise funds for Music 4 Maryland.
…Alright, nobody bought the pink flamingo guitar, but that just means it’s still available for purchase! :)
We ate burritos, made friends with our tent city neighbors, caught up with WTMD and listened to some great music from Trombone Shorty, Gov’t Mule and more. I may or may not have bum rushed Trombone Shorty outside of a bathroom in order to get our “art-ed up” trombone signed… but he was happy to oblige.
Overall, I had a great time at my first Hot August Blues. Can’t wait ‘till next year!
